Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako on Friday hosted President William Ruto and First Lady Mama Rachel at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan.

The Emperor and Empress hosted Ruto and the First Lady for a reception that marked the final day of his four-day official visit to the East Asian country.

President Ruto said that because of a rich history of consistent friendship, Kenya and Japan find increasing opportunities for transformative collaboration.

He added that he looks forward to an expanded development partnership.

“Kenya is immensely honoured by the warm reception accorded to us during our visit to Japan,” Ruto said.

“Our engagement with their Majesties Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako forms the climax of our visit that will remain in our memory. At the Imperial Palace, Tokyo, Japan.”

He noted that Kenya’s partnership with Japan is strong, dynamic, forward-looking and transformational.

Ruto said it also enables the two nations to face a complex global future with more certainty and greater confidence.
