“The hospital gave 277 specialised burns treatment and offered 14,895 oncology sessions to patients,” she said.

The CS noted that KNH conducted 184 multidisciplinary outreaches with counties.

“Mwai Kibaki Hospital and Mama Margaret Uhuru Hospital undertook 538 and 26 minimally invasive surgeries respectively,” she pointed out.

She added that Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) undertook 2,272 minimally invasive surgeries, 14,868 chemotherapy sessions, 49 open heart surgeries, 12, 801 external beam radiotherapy sessions, 276 brachytherapy sessions and 40 corneal transplants.

She further noted that Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital conducted 11 open heart surgeries 1,450 minimally invasive surgeries, 3,791 hemodialysis, and 13,022 chemo and radiotherapy treatment.

The meeting will lawmakers accord the ministry the opportunity to demonstrate to MPs its priorities based on the health of Kenyans, how far they are in meeting the expectations of Kenyans in health care provision and financing gaps that need the attention and consideration of Parliament to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to the people of Kenya.

Nakhumicha said the State Department for Medical Services remains committed to working with the Parliament and other stakeholders to ensure the provision of quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services to Kenyans is realised.

“It is our belief that this is necessary for a healthy, productive population that is required to grow our economy,” she said.
