Kalonzo: I don’t want a govt’ job, will remain in the opposition,

Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said he will not accept a job in government but will remain in opposition and fight for Kenyans.

Kalonzo on Sunday highlighted that his vision at the moment is to fight for the rights of Kenyans and hold the Kenya Kwanza government accountable.

“I do not want to be in the government. I am ready to continue being in the opposition to fight for Kenyans, who will be there for Kenyans when the cost of living is unbearable,” he said.

In an interview with Inooro TV on Sunday, the Wiper leader explained that he aims to unseat President William Ruto in 2027.

Early this year, Kalonzo announced that he is ready to run for president in 2027.

The Wiper leader who first ran for president in 2007 on the ODM Kenya ticket is under pressure from his Ukambani backyard to take the second stab.

He supported Raila in 2013 and 2017 as running mates; in 2022, he was relegated from the second in command by Narc Kenya boss Martha Karua.

On June 3, 2022, Kalonzo withdrew his candidature as a presidential nominee in the August 2022 General Election.

The withdrawal from the Presidential race came a day after he declared his support for Raila.

Last week on Tuesday after chairing a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, Kalonzo said he will soon begin traversing the country popularizing his bid in the run-up to the poll.

“Nothing prevents a presidential candidate from covering the length and the breadth of this country, introducing himself, consulting,” he said.

A section of Ukambani leaders have urged Kalonzo to traverse the country and campaign for the presidency.

The region’s political leaders have insisted that he must run for the country’s job after sacrificing three times for Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

The politicians said the former vice-president is ripe for the country’s top job, insisting that 2027 will be his time.

The leaders said they will aggressively campaign for Kalonzo’s presidential bid.
